Konar Kadai to Konar Mess long journey behind the success


Konar Mess food joint was set up in the year 1943 by late Shri. Sundara Konar . Initially there was no specific name for the restaurant until the people of the locality, Madurai Simmakkal fondly called it as the “ Konar Kadai “ in memory of late Sundara Konar which soon turned out to be the name of the food joint.The first branch was set up at Simmakkal in the year, 1943 followed by the second branch amidst the crowded beautiful locality, Periyar in the year, 2004 and another new venture was started this year introducing special tiffin menu in Anna Nagar. The main branch in Simmakkal was renovated in 2009. With their branches located in the heart of the Madurai city, They work hard to give our best to satisfy every single customer . The management of all these branches are taken care of by Manickam S, son of Sundara Konar, his sons and grandson.

Restaurant kitchen is highly equipped with modern facilities. The ingredients especially spices used for cooking are notably home-made which ensures good taste. The poultry and meat used are fresh and are used on a day to day basis. Every staff entering the kitchen has to wear an apron and gloves to keep up proper hygiene. There is proper ventilation throughout the dining area and the kitchen. There is air-conditioned dining available in the restaurant. There is also a waiting place available. Even though their branches are located in the heart of the city, there is ample space for our customers to park their vehicles.
