Food fest of Uttrakhand cuisine
We are a nation with varied Culture and Cuisine and each region offers some amazingly delicious food and it's nice that Hotels have started showcasing cuisine of different regions by creating Foodfestivals. Hotel Holiday Inn Mayur Vihar has started with #Kauthig- Foodfest of Uttrakhand cuisine starting 19th April till 28th April' 24 and the ambience created specially for the festival to give a look of Kauthig - (Mela ) with bright lights, live cooking and Buffet offering a variety of dishes popular in Uttrakhand with a live traditional band entertaining the guests and promoting Folk Culture.
It was a packed house on the first day of the festival with guests enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and good food.Uttrakhand region has many healthy ingredients which are extensively being exported as well. Cuisine is simple healthy n tasty.Welcome drinks as Burans( edible Flower ) Ka Sharbat and Malta ka Sharbat, severed in kulhad were nuce n refreshing and are supposed to be healthy. Urad Dal ka Pakoda is mandatory during any festival Puja or weddings which was served as starter along with assorted pakoras and Hare pyaz ka Chilla with healthy Bhang Ki Chutney, Till (Sesame) Chutney, Bhat(Pulse) ki Chutney and Tamatar ki Chutney. Sukhoo kukdu (Dry Chicken) and Dry Lamb, Kidney, Liver as starters were delicious .Machchar( Fish) Jhol, Kukdu (Chicken) Jhol, Shikar/ Mutton Jhol with Red Rice are some of the popular food items of the region. Bhat ki chutkani (dal) Kadi, and vegetables were in variety for Vegetarians too with stuffed paranthas of Tor Dal and Gagat Dal which are also very popular n yummy and specially enjoyed with loads of ghee during winters.
Some of the popular sweets and desserts of Garhwal and kumaon region were also part of the menu like Singori, Bal Mithai, Roat, Ragi Ladoo, Jhangore ki Kheer, Jalebi with rubbery etc are their to enjoy after a great meal.
Chef Rajender Chauhan who is from Uttrakhand region and been with the hotel for very long was very excited and prepared a good menu offering all the popular dishes of the region along with Executive Chef Suraj Chauhan and their team.
