Chennai famous Rayar mess Truly unique
Their Pongal had milk. Mildly salted and nice. Coconut chutney - no complaints! Their other side dish was the highlight. It was a cross between a lentil sambar and a Tomato kulambu! Truly unique, tangy and lip smacking.
Vadai was perfectly crisped. Its been ages since I had such a vadai. Brought back the Chellam canteen (opp. to Tiruppur old bus stand) vadai memories.

Idlies were so fluffy and hot. When I lifted the idlis with my fingers, half the idly just dropped off in slow motion. Shows how picture perfect their batter is. The porous idlies absorbed the sambar/kulambu in no time and lifted the flavours for the bite. One of the finest idlis I have tasted.
At the age of thick milked filter coffee their coffee was light and refreshing. It could fill the gaps in the tummy rather than making it feel full and heavy. It is run by the family. They cook themselves and their limited menu of just four items helps them to do it to perfection. Its a must visit if you are so fond of taste. Definitely not for cozy ambience but a buzzing ambience of its own!
