How to prepare Goan Style Green Peas Pulao


Goan Style Green Peas Pulao with Cashew, Raisins & Coconut Milk This Pulao Rice is kids friendly.  When I was small I never liked to eat rice item so my mom used to add dry fruits and make this Pulao for me. 

Ingredients 

1 cup Basmati Rice wash twice and soak in water for 30 mins to 1 hour

1/4 cup Green Peas 

2 Onions finely sliced 

2 Tomatoes finely chopped 

1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste 

1 large spoon Oil

2 Bay Leaves 

5 Peppercorns

3" Cinnamon Stick 

3 Cloves

2 Star Anise

2 Black Cardamom 

2 tbsp Cashew

1 tbsp Raisins 

1/2 tsp Jeera Meera Powder (Optional)

1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder (Optional)

1 Veg Maggi Cube / Chicken 

Salt to taste 

Extract of 1 cup of Fresh Coconut 

1 cup Thick Coconut Milk

1 cup Thin Coconut Milk 

Goan Style Green Peas Pulao

Cooking Method 

1) Heat oil in a non-stick pan / heavy bottomed pan

2) Add Peppercorns, Cinnamon Stick, Cloves, Star Anise, Black Cardamom & Bay Leaves and saute till the masala leaves its aroma.

3) Then add Cashew, Raisins saute it then add Onion and cook to translucent.

4) Add Tomato saute till it gets soft.

5) Add Ginger Garlic Paste & Green Peas saute for 1 minute.

6) Add soaked drained Rice saute it then add Jeera Meera Powder & Turmeric Powder mix it well

7) Add Coconut Milk, Vegetable Cube & Salt stir it.

9) Cover and cook on low flame.

10) After 5 mins stir lightly and proceed with cooking for 10 - 15 minutes on low flame. Once water is dried, close the flame. Serve it hot
